    • Venous disease/disorders

Our Vascular team offers both surgical and minimally invasive procedures, so your care is tailored to your needs. So, you receive advanced vascular and endovascular treatments right here in your community.

    Vascular Surgery

If you need surgery or a consultation, our team is here to guide you. Below is a sample of the procedures and testing services available through Genesis Vascular Surgery.

      • Abdominal aortic aneurysms/occlusive disease
      • Carotid artery disease
      • Peripheral vascular disease
      • End stage renal disease
      • Renal artery stenosis
      • Varicose veins and related disorders

Using both surgical and minimally invasive procedures to tailor care to your specific needs, our Vascular team provides excellent, advanced vascular and endovascular treatment for our community, closer to home.

      Surgical services

In addition to surgical consultations, below is a partial listing of procedures and testing services provided by the vascular surgery team at Genesis.

      Vascular surgery

      • Open and endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm
      • Monitoring of aneurysms greater than 4-5 centimeters
      • Carotid endarterectomy
      • Transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) - is a less-invasive method for reducing the risk of stroke and complications while treating carotid artery disease in one or both neck arteries. During the procedure, a small incision is made in the neck. A tube is inserted into the carotid artery and connected to equipment to direct blood flow away from the brain temporarily. The blood is filtered before returning to a vein in the groin. In addition to fewer risks during the TCAR procedure, a smaller incision is used to reduce scarring and procedure time is less than half compared to carotid endarterectomy. Most patients return home the day after the procedure. Learn more by watching a video where Dr. Kunstmann talks about the procedure.
      • Limb salvage procedures
      • Lower extremity angioplasty
      • Upper extremity angioplasty
      • Lower extremity bypass surgery
      • Dialysis fistula creation and intervention
      • Endovenous radiofrequency vein ablations
      • Venograms and stenting
      • VenaSeal™
      • Varithena™

      Heart and vascular rehabilitation

Our program combines exercise, education and support to help you restore and maintain your physical, psychological and vocational well-being.

      Continued cardiac care

Our comprehensive services include diagnostic testing; a rehabilitation gym; the Anticoagulation Clinic (for monitoring your blood when taking blood-thinning medications); the Vein Center; and the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic.

Our specialists are experienced in both Sudden Cardiac Arrest, when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating, as well as Myocardial Infarction, which occurs when the blood flow to a certain part of the heart is blocked.

        12-lead EKG saves lives

Before you arrive at our Emergency Department (ED) by ambulance, our ED doctors and cardiac team already have a plan to stop your heart attack. That’s because Genesis Hospital, Genesis Community Ambulance and the local EMS community have partnered to equip Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles with 12-lead EKG monitors so they can determine if you are having a heart attack before arriving at the hospital. This lead time enables the hospital’s heart team to be ready to intervene as soon as you arrive. They can literally stop a heart attack in its tracks.

We can help you manage conditions that can lead to serious heart problems. These include high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and Metabolic Syndrome, which is a group of health problems that include excess fat around the waist, elevated blood pressure and blood sugar, high triglycerides and low HDL cholesterol.

When your heart is unable to properly pump the blood your body needs, you are suffering from heart failure. Our specialists will help you manage and treat your condition with lifestyle changes, medicines and when necessary, pacemakers and defibrillators.

There are many types of arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats) that range from minor to life-threatening. Our team of electrophysiologists will evaluate the severity of your irregular heartbeat and recommend appropriate treatments based on your individual need.

This narrowing or blockage of the arteries or veins in your legs, arms or torso is caused by plaque buildup. From evaluation and diagnosis through lifestyle changes and treatments, which may include drug therapy or a minimally invasive procedure, our general and interventional cardiologists will provide guidance to help you minimize the effects of these conditions.

Updates from the Sounds of Good Health with Genesis Podcast:
