Vein Center

Genesis has a state-of-the-art vein center where interventional cardiologists take a comprehensive approach to vein care. Varicose veins left untreated could enlarge with symptoms becoming more severe. Additional health problems could result such as pulmonary embolism or deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

We treat a variety of conditions for patients including:

    • Bulging Varicose Veins
    • Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT)
    • Leg or ankle swelling
    • Leg fatigue or heaviness
    • Leg pain, aching, cramping or burning
    • Leg ulcers and painful, swollen legs
    • Restless legs
    • Skins changes, rashes or itching skin
    • Ulcers or sores that will not heal
    • Varicose veins (medically necessary and cosmetic)
    • Venous insufficiency
    • Venous disease
    • Wounds that will not heal

In addition to consultations, using minimally invasive procedures, our interventional cardiologists provide advanced treatment for painful, restless and swollen legs related to venous disease and varicose veins, including:

    • Chemical Ablations
    • Cosmetic treatment of varicose veins
    • Endovenous Laser Ablation (EVLA)
    • Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation (EVRFA)
    • Mechanochemical Ablations (MOCA)
    • Non-thermal Ablation Vein Therapy
    • Phlebectomy
    • Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)
    • Sclerotherapy

    Cosmetic vein services

Our interventional cardiologists also provide two different types of advanced therapy for the cosmetic treatment of varicose veins. Non-thermal ablation vein therapy is an injectable foam medicine used to treat varicose veins. Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) treatment heats, collapses and seals off blood vessels to stop the progression of venous disease and clear up unsightly veins in the legs.

    Signs and symptoms

Symptoms of varicose vein disease are common. About half of adults have varicose veins and they become more prevalent with age. Although varicose veins can occur elsewhere, they are commonly found in the legs. Signs and symptoms of varicose veins include:

    • Tired, heavy, painful or restless legs
    • Enlarged and twisted veins
    • Bulging, blue blood vessels clearly visible through the skin
    • Swollen legs or ankles
    • Lower leg ulcers
    • Changes in skin including burning or itching
