Caring for the Community

Count on Genesis HealthCare System to help you and your family, friends and neighbors live healthy, fulfilling lives. We’re dedicated to supporting a strong community through education and events, accessible health care and more.

Our flagship organization, Genesis Hospital, is a not-for-profit hospital that provides care to all members of the community, regardless of ability to pay.

Each year, we provide millions of dollars in free care for people who can’t afford health services. We also absorb millions of dollars in unpaid Medicare and Medicaid costs, which reflects the difference between our cost to provide care and the amount the government pays for providing the care.

As a participant in the 340B hospital program, Genesis receives limited federal resources to reduce the price of outpatient pharmaceuticals for Medicaid, uninsured and low-income patients.

Get the information you need to live a healthier, happier life. Browse our classes and events, invite a health or wellness expert from our Speakers Bureau to speak to your organization, or help advance women’s health care while having fun by joining Spirit of Women.

Genesis would also like to connect you with other community resources in case you are struggling with social needs. Please contact 211, a comprehensive resource for community-based support.

Genesis HealthCare System partners with local organizations and reaches out to community members to identify the biggest health needs in our region and discover what resources are available to assist with those needs.

Genesis is completing a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) to identify the health needs of community members and make a plan to address those needs.

Discover what we learned by reading Genesis’ 2021 Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) (PDF).

    Implementation Strategy

Once needs have been identified, we create an implementation strategy that outlines how Genesis will use interventions that create positive change to improve the health and well-being of our community.

    Questions or Comments?

If you have questions or comments about Genesis’ CHNA or implementation strategy, email Sophia Marcum, in our Mission Department.

Count on Genesis Hospital to provide the health care you need. We’re committed to providing a broad range of services to meet the community’s needs, even when they’re not profitable.

And rest assured that every penny we make above and beyond our expenses is put back into the hospital to add new technology, update our facilities and improve the services we provide to southeastern Ohio.
