Making your healthcare team better

Caring for patients with cardiovascular disease takes a team. Our NPs and PAs work with our physicians to provide the best care, timely access and increase your satisfaction.

Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physicians Assistants (PAs) are a vital and growing part of your healthcare.

Each of our NPs and PAs have advanced graduate degrees and subspecialized in cardiovascular medicine. Many of them have worked in cardiology for over 10 years and are highly trusted colleagues of all our cardiologists.

NPs and PAs partner with your cardiologist in both our office and the hospital. Through that partnership, our NPs and PAs focus on diagnosing diseases, managing symptoms, ordering diagnostic testing, adjusting medications and providing education.

Interventional Cardiology

Our board-certified interventional cardiologists have years of experience and extensive training in performing interventional procedures, and our quality outcomes for interventional cardiology exceed national averages.

Genesis HealthCare System was the first in the State of Ohio to receive Chest Pain Center accreditation with PCI from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC) because we closely follow the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association’s recommendations for heart attack care.

Interventional cardiology utilizes minimally invasive tests and procedures to diagnosis and treat heart conditions. We treat a variety of symptoms and conditions for patients including:

    • Atherosclerosis
    • Coronary artery disease
    • Heart attacks
    • Heart valve disease
    • Peripheral vascular disease
    • Pulmonary embolism
    • Uncontrolled or persistent hypertension

Genesis is an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI which ensures faster treatment during the critical early stages of a heart attack. Below you'll find additional treatments, procedures and diagnostic screenings provided by the cardiology team at Genesis:

    • Cardiac catheterization (heart cath)
    • Carotid stenting
    • Catheter-directed thrombolysis
    • Coronary Flow Reserve (CFR)

    • Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR)
    • Impella® heart pump - The Impella® Percutaneous Hemodynamic Support Device is used in patients with heart failure and high-risk patients undergoing Percutaneous Intervention (PCI) stenting. Impella pumps blood from the left ventricle of the heart during a procedure to allow it to recover and rest.

    • Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS)
    • Renal denervation

    Electrophysiology

    Electrophysiology

Patients experiencing palpitations, fluttering or racing heartbeats may benefit from Genesis Electrophysiology services. Arrhythmias can sometimes occur in a healthy heart and be of minimal consequence, but they can sometimes indicate a serious problem that can lead to heart disease, stroke or sudden death. Cardiac electrophysiology is the diagnosis and treatment of those abnormal heart rate and rhythms.

Shaun Bhatty, M.D., Discusses Atrial Fibrillation

The most common type of arrhythmia is atrial fibrillation (A-Fib) and is the result of the top portion or atria of the heart beating out of rhythm. An electrophysiology (EP) study is used to diagnosis the type and severity of arrhythmias.

We treat a variety of conditions for patients including:

      • Arrhythmias

      • Atrial Fibrillation (A-Fib)

      • Bradycardia

      • Long QT syndrome

      • Sudden cardiac arrest

      • Supraventricular tachycardia

      • Tachycardia

      • Ventricular fibrillation

      • Wolff-Parkinson-White (WPW) syndrome

Treatment can involve many different therapies from medications, to devices to control your heart beat, to catheter based procedures called ablations. Genesis treatments, procedures and device implantations include:

      • Biventricular devices
      • Cardiac device monitoring
      • Catheter ablation for Atrial Fibrillation (A-Fib)
      • Catheter ablation for fast heart rate (Tachycardia)
      • Defibrillators
      • Device implants
      • Electrical cardioversion for fast heart rate (Fibrillation)
      • Electrical cardioversion for Atrial Fibrillation (A-Fib)
      • Implantable Cardiac Defibrillator (ICD)
      • Laboratory tests
      • Lead extractions
      • Left atrial appendage closure
