Departments

Finding the right heart or vascular care should be simple.

At Genesis, you can access testing, treatment and specialty care in one place. Explore each area below to find the right care for your situation and your next step forward.

Cardiothoracic Surgery

Some heart and lung conditions require advanced surgical care.

At Genesis, your care is guided by experienced surgeons who perform complex heart, lung and vascular procedures every day. Our long-standing open-heart program is built on strong outcomes and a focus on patient safety.

Electrophysiology

An irregular heartbeat can affect how you feel each day.

Our electrophysiology team diagnoses and treats arrhythmias using advanced technology and minimally invasive procedures. We work with you to restore a more normal heart rhythm and improve your quality of life.

General Cardiology

When something does not feel right, getting clear answers matters.

General cardiology is often the first step. At Genesis, you receive thorough testing and guidance to understand your condition and protect your heart health.

Interventional Cardiology

Blocked or narrowed arteries require fast, effective treatment.

Our interventional cardiology team uses minimally invasive procedures to restore blood flow and reduce your risk of serious complications. Many treatments are performed without open surgery, helping you recover faster.

Structural Heart

Conditions affecting the heart’s valves, walls or chambers require precise care.

At Genesis, your team evaluates and treats structural heart conditions using advanced, minimally invasive and robotic techniques when possible. These approaches can reduce recovery time and improve outcomes.

Vascular Surgery

Poor circulation can impact your health in serious ways.

Our vascular surgery team provides both traditional and minimally invasive treatments to restore blood flow and reduce risk. Your care plan is tailored to your condition and goals.

Clinics and specialty programs

Some heart and vascular conditions need ongoing care and support.

Our specialty clinics bring together cardiologists, nurses and care teams to help you manage your condition with a clear plan and consistent follow-up.

Anticoagulation Clinic

Blood-thinning medications require careful monitoring.

This clinic helps you stay within a safe range by tracking your medication and making adjustments as needed. You can stay active while lowering your risk of complications.

Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) Clinic

Living with heart failure requires ongoing support.

At Genesis, you receive education, monitoring and treatment to help manage your condition and improve your daily life.

Device Clinic

Pacemakers and defibrillators need regular monitoring.

This clinic checks your device in person or remotely so your care team can identify concerns early and act when needed.

Vein Center

Vein conditions like varicose veins can cause discomfort and disrupt daily life.

At Genesis, you receive a full evaluation and treatment options to improve circulation and reduce symptoms.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

Recovery after a heart event or procedure takes guidance and support.

Cardiac rehabilitation helps you rebuild strength, improve your health and regain confidence. Through supervised exercise, education and coaching, you can safely return to daily activities.

Heart and vascular rehabilitation

Our program combines exercise, education and support to help you restore and maintain your physical, psychological and vocational well-being.

Continued cardiac care

Our comprehensive services include diagnostic testing; a rehabilitation gym; the Anticoagulation Clinic (for monitoring your blood when taking blood-thinning medications); the Vein Center; and the Congestive Heart Failure Clinic.

Our specialists are experienced in both Sudden Cardiac Arrest, when the heart suddenly and unexpectedly stops beating, as well as Myocardial Infarction, which occurs when the blood flow to a certain part of the heart is blocked.

    12-lead EKG saves lives

Before you arrive at our Emergency Department (ED) by ambulance, our ED doctors and cardiac team already have a plan to stop your heart attack. That’s because Genesis Hospital, Genesis Community Ambulance and the local EMS community have partnered to equip Emergency Medical Services (EMS) vehicles with 12-lead EKG monitors so they can determine if you are having a heart attack before arriving at the hospital. This lead time enables the hospital’s heart team to be ready to intervene as soon as you arrive. They can literally stop a heart attack in its tracks.

We can help you manage conditions that can lead to serious heart problems. These include high cholesterol, diabetes, high blood pressure and Metabolic Syndrome, which is a group of health problems that include excess fat around the waist, elevated blood pressure and blood sugar, high triglycerides and low HDL cholesterol.

When your heart is unable to properly pump the blood your body needs, you are suffering from heart failure. Our specialists will help you manage and treat your condition with lifestyle changes, medicines and when necessary, pacemakers and defibrillators.

There are many types of arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats) that range from minor to life-threatening. Our team of electrophysiologists will evaluate the severity of your irregular heartbeat and recommend appropriate treatments based on your individual need.

This narrowing or blockage of the arteries or veins in your legs, arms or torso is caused by plaque buildup. From evaluation and diagnosis through lifestyle changes and treatments, which may include drug therapy or a minimally invasive procedure, our general and interventional cardiologists will provide guidance to help you minimize the effects of these conditions.

Updates from the Sounds of Good Health with Genesis Podcast:

    • "Life After a Heart Attack" - Duane Pool, M.D., fellowship-trained in cardiology and board-certified in cardiovascular disease, discusses the important diet and lifestyle changes one should make when recovering from a heart attack. Listen Here.

    Expect the best from Genesis
