Get With The Guidelines® 2018 - Stroke Gold Plus and Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite
(August 9, 2018) -The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association recognize this hospital for achieving 85% or higher compliance with all Get With The Guidelines®- Stroke Achievement Measures and 75% or higher compliance with five or more Get With The Guidelines®- Stroke Quality Measures for two or more consecutive years to improve quality of patient care and outcomes.
Primary Stroke Certification
(February 9, 2018) -Genesis was awarded Primary Stroke Certification in January 2018 from the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP). To receive this designation, Genesis demonstrated through an extensive on-site review that it met or exceeded federal and recognized national standards for patient safety, quality improvement and environmental safety.
Genesis Honored for Healthy Worksite Practices
(February 2, 2018) –Genesis HealthCare System has been recognized for the third consecutive year by the Healthy Business Council of Ohio for commitment to the health and well-being of its employees. Genesis Named Best Place to Work in IT
(June 13, 2017) – Genesis HealthCare System was named as a 2017 Best Places to Work in Information Technology by IDG’s Computerworld today. Genesis was ranked No. 18 among midsize businesses.The list of Best Places to Work in IT is an annual ranking of the top 100 work environments for technology professionals by Computerworld. The list is compiled based on a comprehensive questionnaire regarding company benefits, career development, training and retention. In addition, Computerworld conducts extensive surveys of IT workers and their responses factor heavily in determining the rankings.
Genesis Receives "A" Grade Hospital Safety Score
(April 14, 2017) Genesis Hospital received a Hospital Safety Score grade of “A” for spring 2017 from The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog, for being among the safest hospitals in the United States.
Genesis Named 2017 Most Wired
(July 10, 2017) – Genesis HealthCare System was named one of the Most Wired® hospitals today by the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Health Forum.“Technology is making it easier for patients and providers to interact, thus improving communication, safety and patient-provider relationships,” said Matthew Perry, president and CEO of Genesis HealthCare System. “New tools are helping patients become more actively involved in their care and maintaining their health.”
Genesis Rated High Performing in U.S News & World Report
(Aug 2016 - July 2017) – Genesis has been rated by U.S. News & World Report as a high-performing hospital in both Heart Failure and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). High-performing means Genesis is significantly better than the national average for both of these conditions. “We’re offering a high level of care that is equal to, or in many cases, better than hospitals in major metropolitan areas,” said Daniel Scheerer, M.D., chief medical affairs officer at Genesis. “The national rating verifies the excellent care we’re providing,” he said. U.S. News & World Report’s scores are based on data including patient safety, survival rate, nursing staff and number of patients treated.
National Recognition for Promoting Organ, Eye and Tissue Donation
Genesis was one of only 995 hospitals nationwide recognized for promoting enrollment in state organ donor registries in a national campaign sponsored by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Genesis was recognized for its role in educating the community and employees about the impact and importance of being an organ, eye and tissue donor.
HealthCare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP)
HFAP is one of only three national voluntary accreditation programs authorized by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to survey hospitals for compliance with the Medicare Conditions of Participation and Coverage. Genesis is specifically an accredited Acute Care Hospital.
Genesis Hospital has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in mammography as the results of a recent review by the American College of Radiology (ARC). The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. Genesis received this award by meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards.
Hospital of the Year Award
Genesis HealthCare System received the Hospital of the Year award by Lifeline of Ohio. The award was given to Genesis out of 75 hospitals for demonstrating outstanding collaboration in support of organ, eye and tissue donation, their comprehensive donation policies and procedures, and donation recovery outcomes in 2015.

Chest Pain Center Accreditation
Genesis HealthCare System is the first and only health system in southeast Ohio to become a fully accredited chest pain center with PCI (percutaneous coronary intervention). To receive this designation, granted by the Society of Chest Pain Centers, Genesis had to demonstrate expertise and commitment to quality patient care by meeting or exceeding a wide set of stringent criteria and completing on-site evaluations by a review team from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
Atrial Fibrillation Certification (First in the Nation)
The Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC) recognizes atrial fibrillation, the most common cardiac arrhythmia that can lead to stroke and possible death, as a major health concern crippling patients and the healthcare system. Genesis HealthCare System is the first organization in the nation that SCPC identified as a solution to the problem – granting them a full atrial fibrillation certification.
CoC Outstanding Achievement Award
Genesis was one of only 90 programs nation-wide to achieve the 2010 Commission on Cancer (CoC) Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of the high quality cancer care provided and for meeting or exceeding the standards set by the CoC Accreditation program.
National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
The National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers is a consortium of national, professional organizations dedicated to the improvement of the quality of care and the monitoring of outcomes for patients with diseases of the breast.
Level III Trauma Center
Genesis HealthCare System has proven itself to have high quality trauma care, and attained Level III Trauma verification by the Ohio Department of Health in accordance with the American College of Surgeons' Committee on Trauma (ACSCOT).
Top 10% In Nation:
Overall Hospital Care, Overall Medical Care and Overall Surgical Care
CareChex® awarded Genesis the National Medical Excellence Award for Overall Hospital Care, Overall Medical Care and Overall Surgical Care, which means Genesis rated in the top 10% of hospitals in the national database. Genesis also received the State Medical Excellence Award for Overall Surgical Care, which means we rated in the top 10% in the hospitals in Ohio.
