Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit

Now open, the Genesis Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit provides short-term care for youth seeking immediate behavioral health support close to home.

By offering care locally, the Genesis Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit provides care for youth ages 10 to 17 in crisis who can’t be effectively treated through outpatient services and do not need inpatient psychiatric care.

Youth receive care in a healing environment where they can build coping skills while staying connected to family, school and community. Genesis will work with local agencies and partners to identify youth who may need additional help during a crisis.

Youth will take part in a two-week program focused on safety, stability and growth, including:

  • Individual and group therapy
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Educational and social activities
  • On-site classroom teacher
  • Shared spaces for meals, laundry and practicing life skills
  • Planning for ongoing support after discharge

Thank you to our community partners

In partnership with the Muskingum Area Mental Health and Recovery Services Board, Genesis was awarded American Rescue Plan Act grant funding through the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health to bring this service to the region.
