Help Genesis provide high-quality healthcare to our community by volunteering at Genesis Hospital, Genesis Coshocton Medical Center or Genesis Hospice Care. Genesis Volunteers are an integral part of our team, providing compassion, comfort and support to patients and their families. You'll be helping deliver the best care to our community.
Volunteer opportunities for everyone
Help visitors feel welcomed by answering phones and providing directions throughout Genesis Hospital.
Support patients, families and visitors by helping them find thoughtful gifts, snacks and everyday items during their visit to Genesis Hospital.
Welcome patients, families and visitors at the Genesis Physician Pavilion, the front desk at Genesis Hospital or Imaging Services by providing directions and a friendly first impression.
Deliver free library materials, daily newspapers and activity sheets to patients and visitors throughout Genesis Hospital. Volunteers may also share cookies and fruit or transport supplies and belongings between hospital departments.
Therapy dog volunteers at Genesis HealthCare System bring comfort, encouragement and smiles to patients, families and team members across our locations. If you and your dog have a gentle temperament and enjoy connecting with people, this can be a rewarding way to make a difference in your community.

Offer comfort and connection through Spiritual Care opportunities at Genesis HealthCare System. Volunteers may provide Communion for patients and family members, share spiritual resources with newly admitted patients or serve as a Compassionate Companion at the bedside of a dying patient so no one dies alone.
Encourage patients and families navigating addiction recovery and healing through Behavioral Health and Outpatient Peer Support.
As a Behavioral Health Volunteer, previous participation in Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous for at least one year is required to lead a supervised meeting. As an Outpatient Peer Support volunteer, provide groups with a personal experience of recovery from addiction, mental health or outpatient rehabilitation programs, while supervised by Drug and Alcohol Recovery Program staff. One year of sobriety is required to offer peer support.
Transport patients or help keep the emergency department stocked and ready for patients at Genesis Coshocton Medical Center.
Support patients and care teams by cleaning equipment, gathering supplies and assisting with daily activities.
Become a Clown Volunteer and bring laughter, encouragement and smiles to patients and families.
Youth volunteers are welcome year-round. Students ages 16 and older can gain experience in a professional healthcare environment while supporting patients, visitors and care teams. Volunteers are asked to commit to at least two 3 to 4-hour shifts each month.
The summer VolunTEEN Program runs from late May through mid-August and gives students the opportunity to explore a variety of hospital departments. It’s a great fit for students interested in healthcare careers, service hours or building confidence in a professional setting. Interested students can complete the general volunteer application.
All volunteers are required to pass a background check and provide proof of vaccination for influenza (during flu season). Ages 18 and up, ask about our adult volunteer program. Youth volunteers are welcome year-round and must be at least 16 years of age.
