Genesis HealthCare System and Zane State College Announce Collaboration

Wednesday, September 3, 2025

Genesis HealthCare System and Zane State College are collaborating to expand healthcare educational opportunities for people in our region as of July 1, 2025.

“Working with Zane State College to expand healthcare programming and opportunities will benefit students in our community,” said Matthew Perry, Genesis HealthCare System President & CEO. “Together, we are investing in the future of students of all ages to help them pursue careers in the healthcare field. It will also benefit all of us as we continue to build on our strong foundation of compassionate, quality healthcare services and education in the six counties Genesis and Zane State College serve.”

The collaboration includes closing critical workforce gaps, elevating education access, driving regional retention, spurring economic growth and expanding program offerings.

“This collaboration is the result of years of conversation, alignment and shared vision. We’ve built this intentionally – based on data, trust and a deep understanding of what our community needs,” said Dr. Chad Brown, President, Zane State College. “Zane State and Genesis understand that with this kind of investment comes expectation, and we’re committed to being transparent, accountable and outcome-focused every step of the way.”

This is a non-exclusive, community-wide, strategic collaboration. Both institutions remain independently governed, with Zane State maintaining authority over its academic affairs and Genesis maintaining authority over its clinical operations. Key components of the collaboration include:

  • Zane State will lead academic programming, career pathways from high school to degree and student support services.

  • Genesis will offer tuition reimbursement, clinical experiences, work-based learning and real-time support into program development.

  • An annual, co-authored impact report will track shared metrics including enrollment, retention, credential attainment and job placement.
