We Honor Veterans
Genesis Hospice Care offers a "We Honor Veterans" program to offer care and guidance for veterans and their families. Genesis Hospice Care has earned a Level IV Partnership, the highest ranking. We’re the only hospice in our area achieving this high level for the unique program available for veterans. The "We Honor Veterans" program accompanies and guides veterans and their families toward the best quality end-of- life care.
How do we do this? Our caregivers and volunteers receive advanced training to address the special needs of people who have served our country. One of the goals of the program is to honor and recognize veterans for their service, and veterans in Hospice Care and family members are honored with pinning ceremonies.
Volunteers in Action
As part of the “We Honor Veteran” program, Genesis Hospice offers a Veteran-to-Veteran (Vet-to-Vet) volunteer program. This innovative model for serving veterans facing the end of life pairs veterans volunteers with hospice patients who have been identified as veterans. The veteran volunteers receive special training to help those who have served our country and have the ability to connect with veteran patients and their families.
You Can Help
Are you a veteran who likes to help others? Learn how you can become a Vet- to-Vet volunteer. There are lots of opportunities to help veterans in our area. Genesis Hospice Salutes Veterans
A special area at Morrison House honors our community’s veterans. In honor of Veteran’s Day, Genesis Hospice Care, along with other organizations in the community, sponsors the “Salute to Veterans” contest. Fifth grade students in Muskingum County share their vision of what being a veteran means by writing an essay or submitting art. The contest is one of the initiatives Genesis Hospice Care offers as part of the “We Honor Veterans” campaign.
Honoring Our Veterans
The “We Honor Veterans” campaign is by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in conjunction with the Department of Veteran Affairs. If you’d like more information about the “We Honor Veterans” campaign, go to wehonorveterans.org.
