Past and present coal miners are invited to attend an appreciation day held in their honor. Enjoy free health screenings, refreshments and informative speakers on Friday, Sept. 5 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Ohio University-Zanesville/Zane State College campus.
The doors open at 8:30 a.m. There’ll be a health fair and educational speakers. Come enjoy the events, and visit with other miners from throughout our region. The event is free but registration is requested by clicking on “Education & Events” or calling (740) 454-4002 or 800-322-4762 ext. 4002.
We all know someone who has been impacted by drug or alcohol abuse. You can learn more about the interventions and treatments to address substance abuse at our annual ethics symposium.

While your new Genesis medical center is being built on the Genesis-Bethesda site, the hospital remains open to meet your needs. We have had to close the emergency department, but you can still receive quality emergency care at Genesis-Good Samaritan 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The Genesis-Bethesda Physicians Pavilion also remains open.

Dr. Donaldson is an emergency medicine physician who recently joined Genesis Emergency Physicians. She earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at The University of Toledo College of Medicine in Toledo, Ohio, and completed her emergency medicine residency program at Akron General Medical Center in Akron, Ohio.

Dr. Espenlaub is a palliative medicine physician who has joined the practice of Erin Remster, D.O., and the palliative care team at Genesis. He is board-certified in internal medicine. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio, and completed his internal medicine residency and palliative medicine fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. David Giammar, M.D.
Dr. Giammar is a trauma surgeon who is board-certified in general surgery and colon and rectal surgery. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio. He completed his general surgery residency at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, followed by his colon and rectal surgery fellowship at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Giammar completed fellowship training in trauma and surgical critical care at Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan.
