Hospital Visiting Hours & Policies
As a patient- and family-centered hospital, we understand visitors play in an important role in patients’ healing and recovery. We welcome visitors as an important part of our health care team. Please review the information below as you prepare to visit your loved one.
Patients can choose a primary support person
Patients may choose one person to be their primary support person. The patient tells us who their primary support person is, and he or she can visit any time (24 hours a day, 7 days a week) during the patient’s hospital stay. If the primary support person visits after regular hospital visiting hours (8 a.m. to 9 p.m.), he or she should enter through the Emergency Department and register with the customer service representative.
Visiting friends and family at the hospital
Family and friends are welcome to visit often between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. Children are welcome during these times as well.
Our first priority is the safety and well-being of our patients; this includes enough time for rest. The number of visitors permitted in a room at one time depends on the needs and comfort of each patient. Please respect the request of the nursing staff if they ask to limit the number of visitors or times of visitation to allow patients to rest and recuperate.
When visiting patients, please:
- Enter through the main entrance of the hospital
- Register with the customer relations representative at the Information Desk

Hospital visitation restrictions may apply
To reduce the risk of spreading infection and to protect our patients and staff, there may be hospital visitation restrictions in the event of a community outbreak such as the flu. If restrictions are implemented, visitations are limited to:
- Individuals age 18 and older
- Immediate family only
- Two visitors per patient at a time
- Those who are free of flu symptoms which include cough, fever, sore throat, body aches and vomiting
- Only parents, grandparents, clergy and siblings age 12 and older who are free of symptoms may visit infants in the OB Special Care Nursery
Reaching a patient by telephone
We’ve made it easier than ever to connect with your loved one while he or she is a patient at Genesis. Simply call our Patient Connect line at (740) 450-6350, and enter your loved one’s room number when prompted. Your call will immediately be transferred to the patient’s room. If you’re not sure of a room number, you can call patient information at (740) 454-4225.
Tobacco-free environment, no smoking permitted
Genesis HealthCare System supports the health and well-being of our patients, visitors, employees and our community by offering a tobacco-free environment throughout its facilities and partner companies.
Tobacco use is not allowed in the hospital and surrounding areas, including parking lots. If you're coming to Genesis as a patient who uses tobacco, we encourage you to talk with your physician about alternatives, such as nicotine replacement therapy, lozenges or gum that can make you more comfortable while in our care. Visitors may be offered nicotine gum at our information desk in our main lobby and in the emergency department.
