New Fitness Trail Opening in Autumn 2019
Trail temporarily closed starting Monday, July 8
Zanesville, Ohio (June 18, 2019) – The Gorsuch Fitness Trail on the Genesis Hospital campus is being reconstructed to provide a better walking experience. The entire trail will close Monday, July 8, and is scheduled to reopen autumn 2019.
Genesis is conducting the project now because it requires dry, warm weather for the four layers of materials to properly curate. The project will include removing tree roots, pouring new asphalt and then applying a special rubberized surface on top. The trail is a one-mile route and will stay the same.
The Genesis volunteers are providing a generous donation to fund the new trail project. “Genesis Volunteers invest in the community, and we’re pleased to provide a new and improved area for our family and friends to exercise,” said Jerry Nolder, executive director, Genesis Volunteers and the Genesis HealthCare Foundation.
Built in 1988 with donations from Charles Gorsuch and other donors, the fitness trail has not been resurfaced since 2006.
