Protecting patients from harm with safer healthcare
ZANESVILLE, OH (Nov. 14, 2019) – Genesis HealthCare System was awarded an “A” from The Leapfrog Group’s fall 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade. The designation recognizes Genesis’ efforts in protecting patients from harm and providing safer healthcare. The Leapfrog Group is a national nonprofit organization committed to improving health, safety and transparency in the U.S. healthcare system. Genesis was one of only 43 hospitals in Ohio to earn this distinction for its performance and commitment to preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, infections and other harms to patients in their care.
“Our staff is dedicated to maintaining a standard of excellence and providing the best possible quality of patient care every day,” said Matthew Perry, President and CEO of Genesis HealthCare System. “Patient safety is our top priority in every aspect of care.”
Developed under the guidance of a national expert panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and the results are free to the public.
