Girl Holds Toy Drive to Donate Gifts to Children in Hospital
162 Toys Donated
ZANESVILLE, OH (Dec. 22, 2016) – Francesca Dougherty, age 5, delivered more than 162 toys to Genesis Hospital this week. This is the second year Francesca and her parents, Alaina and Daniel Dougherty, have donated toys for children in the hospital.
“We appreciate the donations and are especially grateful for the toys from a young girl who gathers the toys to bring joy to children in the hospital,” said Paul McClelland, executive director, Genesis HealthCare Foundation.
Francesca Dougherty was in a hospital a short time when she was 3 years old and enjoyed the toy she received. This year the Dougherty family held a toy jam with bands performing at a local business and were able to collect the large amount of toys. "Francesca had a lot of help, and the amount we were able to donate is a testament to the community we live in that never fails to get behind a great cause," said Dan Dougherty, Francesca's dad.
