Genesis Honors Volunteers During Volunteer Week
Genesis HealthCare System will honor volunteers during Genesis Volunteer Week, April 20 to 26. The events during the week include a banquet celebration for more than 400 volunteers who donate their time and talents to the organization. Of those, 110 volunteers will receive awards for hours or years of service.
Among the award recipients are Mary Lou Crawford, who has 50 years of volunteer service to the hospital, and Bill James and Maggie Nussbaum, who have volunteered at Genesis Hospice for 25 years. There are four hospital volunteers who have given more than 10,000 hours of their time to Genesis. To see the list of volunteers being honored at the banquet, go to genesishcs.org.
Volunteers perform many duties at Genesis, from transporting patients, answering phones, helping Hospice patients and their families, and assisting with office work. They also are integral part of raising funds for Genesis through book fairs, plant sales, the annual Tree of Love project, and other events. The fundraisers contribute to the Genesis Volunteers $1 million donation for the new Genesis hospital.
