Home Sleep Testing

The Genesis Sleep Disorders Center now offers a convenient way to evaluate sleep apnea in the comfort of your own home. The Genesis Sleep Disorders Center received accreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine to offer Home Sleep Testing (HST).

If you don't have a serious medical condition, you could be a candidate for home sleep testing. The home sleep testing enables you to wear a portable device overnight and return the monitor to the Genesis Sleep Disorders Center at Genesis-Bethesda the next day. The results are downloaded, scored by a registered polysomnographer, a technician who studies sleep patterns, and reviewed by a board-certified sleep physician for diagnoses and treatment. If you have a question during the test, you can call the Genesis Sleep Disorders Center 24/7, a requirement for certification by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.

It's estimated that 38 milllion Americans are affected by obstructed sleep apnea and 15 million of these people go undiagnosed. Obstructed sleep apnea can contribute to high blood pressure, stroke, heart attacks or diabetes. For more information about the testing, call (740) 454-4725 or (800) 322-4762, ext. 4725.
