Stroke Network
Real-Time Communication 24/7
Every second counts if you or someone in your family is having a stroke. That’s why we joined the OhioHealth Stroke Network — to provide access to stroke specialists 24/7 without always transferring patients to other hospitals.
Specialists in Columbus can see, hear and talk to patients and their families using video conferencing at Genesis-Good Samaritan Hospital. The telemedicine technology is so precise it can zoom in to see if a patient’s pupils are dilated.
The real-time communication with a two-way monitor enables Genesis caregivers and the stroke network personnel to determine if a patient needs to be transported to Grant or Riverside hospitals. In some cases, treatment can begin before the patient is transported, saving valuable time to help avoid long-term brain damage.
