Genesis ThinkFirst
Injury Prevention Program
ThinkFirst’s goal is to reduce the incidence of brain and spinal cord injuries in our most vulnerable population - children, teens and young adults. Did
you know that injury is the No. 1 cause of death among children and teens?
Prevent Injuries
The good news is most injuries are preventable. The Genesis ThinkFirst program reminds kids through education to use their minds to protect their bodies. Do your children wear a helmet every time they ride a horse, bike or four-wheeler? Are your teenagers reaching for a cell phone while driving or are you texting while driving?
- Sending or receiving a text while behind the wheel is like driving blindfolded the length of a football field at 55 mph.
- Using a cell phone while driving, even if it's hand-held or hands-free, delays your reaction as much as having a blood alcohol level of .08, the legal limit.
- Not wearing a helmet while riding a bike makes you 14 more times as likely to become a fatality if you're in a crash.
