Genesis Recovery Center (Substance Abuse Treatment)
If you drink alcohol now and then to relax or during social times, you're like many who use alcohol responsibility and in a way that is safe for most adults. But if alcohol use begins to affect any part of your life ... your relationships, health, job, school, or money ... you may need help to deal with your problem.
Like alcohol, dependence on drugs, both illegal substances and prescription medications/narcotics, can also have many negative effects on your life. If you think you could have a problem with drug use, help is here at the Genesis Recovery Center.
No two treatment processes are exactly the same, so we offer numerous programs at the Genesis Recovery Center. You will learn to identify your substance abuse problems and then learn problem-solving skills for behavior change.
Programs are offered at convenient times, and care is provided in a timely manner with the overall goal to empower you to live your life with quality.

Adult Substance Abuse Treatment
This program encourages you to adopt a lifestyle of abstinence from alcohol and other drugs with counseling, individualized treatment, group therapy, education, family support, and ongoing evaluation of goal accomplishment. After an initial assessment, you enroll in the day or evening program, whichever best meets your needs and schedule.
Day Intensive Outpatient Group Program
This program is held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.
Participants usually start the program at three days per week - Monday, Wednesday, Friday - and then go to two days per week - Tuesday and Thursday - for 13 to 15 weeks.

Evening Intensive Outpatient Group Program
This program is held Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. The program is six to nine weeks long. Areas discussed include:

- Grief and Recovery
- 12-Step Recovery
- Family Recovery
- Stress Management

Relapse Prevention Program
Clients attend this program one day a week from 9 a.m. to noon on Thursdays, for five weeks.
After this program, clients generally enter our Continuing Care program.
Continuing Care
This program meets from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays.
It is generally attended after the client has completed our primary treatment program. People coming from an inpatient or residential facility may also come for this program
Pregnancy and Drug Use Educational Classes
This class is for women who are pregnant or plan to become pregnant and abused drugs and/or alcohol.
These educational sessions cover the effects of drug and/or alcohol use on the unborn child, fetal alcohol syndrome and sexually transmitted diseases. Intake assessment must be completed by us before enrollment

Driver Intervention Program
The Driver Intervention Program (DIP) is an alternative to jail for adults 18 years of age and older. It is held at the Friendly Hills Grange Camp, 5880 Friendly Hills Drive, Zanesville.
Monthly Clinic
Each clinic consists of 72 hours of instruction (as required by law); this clinic is held monthly. Participants stay in a dormitory-style facility with 24-hour staff. Clients are referred to the clinic by the court system and are required to attend from 6:30 p.m. on Thursday to 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Topics Covered
Most of the weekend is spent in the classroom focusing on alcohol education, alternatives to drinking and driving, insurance and legal consequences, chemical dependency testing and assessment with recommendations. An individual session is also included.
The program is taught by certified and licensed professionals with assistance from attorneys, Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers and insurance agents. Referrals are taken statewide and from out-of-state because the program is certified by the State of Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services.

Petty Theft/Shoplifting Course
This one-day program, for adults 18 years of age and older, is an alternative to fines and/or jail sentences, as determined by a judge. It is available for residents from all counties and is the only one in the State of Ohio.
The course is designed to affect positive behavioral and social change in the individual and reduce incidence of community theft. Alcohol/drug education and assessment are part of the program. The program is directed and taught by qualified, certified professionals using the following steps:
- Presentation of information and statistics on the problem
- Personal and group confrontation
- Self-evaluation guided by a professional counselor
- Raising the level of awareness of social responsibility
- Development of a written personal plan of action/aftercare

Underage Consumption Clinic
The clinic is held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for individuals convicted of underage alcohol consumption, possession, etc.
The clinic is designed to educate individuals on alcohol and drug abuse and as a preventative measure for chemical dependency. Reinforcement of the State of Ohio's drinking laws and further penalties are reviewed along with repeat offense penalties.

Drug-Free Safety Program
The Bureau of Workmen's Compensation requires drug and alcohol education for employers and supervisors in order to receive a discount on workers' compensation.
This education is available at the Genesis Recovery Center located near Genesis-Bethesda or the trained staff can provide the education at your place of business. Call the Genesis Recovery Center for more information.
Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment Program
Alcohol and drug abuse can occur at any age,
even in youth. That's why Genesis Recovery Center developed a program for adolescents 13 to 18 years of age who are experiencing alcohol or drug use problems.
This five-week program encourages clients to adopt a lifestyle of abstinence from alcohol and other drugs through counseling, individualized treatment, group and family support, and ongoing evaluation of goal accomplishment.
The program meets twice a week for two hours each night; the client is enrolled in the program for six weeks. Clients are subject to random drug screens

Parent Involvement
Parents are an important part of their child's recovery process. We encourage parents to attend the family sessions held during the fourth week of the adolescent group to learn about family issues related to substance abuse or dependence and how to correctly deal with them.
Parents are invited to discuss concerns and questions with counselors individually or in a family session at anytime.
Enrollment
Individuals may enroll in the program on their own or through an agency referral and are accepted into the program without regard to payment source.
After this program, the client can possibly go into our Continuing Care program, which meets for one hour once a week.
