Quality Ratings

Quality SealIf you're looking for hospital quality ratings, it's become easier and easier to search the internet and find sites with this information. What's not so easy is truly understanding how the ratings are created and what they mean.

Collecting and reporting healthcare data is a relatively new and evolving science. So it's important to compare as many quality measurement types as possible to form the most complete picture of a hospital's total quality of care. We also encourage you to talk with your physician about the quality of care at the hospital where he or she practices before making a final decision.

The quality ratings we share here are reported through federal and state agencies. They mostly compare how often hospitals provide recommended care to obtain the best results for most patients. Some of the data also includes if hospital staff perform specific actions - such as handwashing and getting flu vaccines - that can have a direct impact on patient care.
