New Hospital Campaign Surpasses Goal
Zanesville, OH (Feb. 20, 2014) – The Genesis HealthCare Foundation recently announced the “Your Hospital. Your Health.” campaign surpassed the goal of raising $15 million to help fund the construction of a new Genesis hospital.
“This success is due to the tireless efforts of our volunteers and the generosity of our community,” stated Paul McClelland, executive director of the Genesis HealthCare Foundation. “When we started this campaign 22 months ago, $15 million seemed like a long way away, but in the end, 1,850 individuals, businesses and organizations came together to provide $15,904,405 in support.”
“The generosity has been absolutely phenomenal,” said Genesis President and CEO Matt Perry. “Board members, employees, volunteers, physicians, business owners and individuals from the community all came together to support the transformation of health care in our community. We received gifts from $1 to more than $1 million, and every one of them is important. Each donor demonstrated great faith in Genesis and this project. Words cannot express how grateful we are to the donors for their contributions.”
In October 2011, Genesis released plans to build a new medical center on its existing Bethesda Hospital site. The “Your Hospital. Your Health.” campaign began in January 2012.
The facility, which is slated to open in 2015, will consist of a new patient addition attached to a renovated Bethesda Hospital. A free-standing cancer center and medical office building is also being constructed on the site. The project is being financed through a combination of bonds and the capital campaign.
