Genesis-Bethesda Fitness Trail Remains Closed Until Year’s End

The fitness trail on the campus of Bethesda Hospital will remain closed until the end of the year due to construction of the new Genesis hospital. The trail, which closed in March, was initially scheduled to reopen the end of June. However because of ongoing safety concerns, hospital officials have announced that the reopening will be postponed.

“The fitness trail is a popular walking destination, and we know many members of the community were looking forward to an earlier opening,” stated Alan Burns, Chief Development Officer. “As construction progressed, we recognized the potential for ongoing safety issues and believe it’s in the best interest of the community to keep the trail closed until the end of the year.”

Throughout the course of this year, the campus is being redesigned to enhance parking and traffic flow. Routine rerouting of traffic, parking lot closures and heavy construction traffic will continue until year’s end. The community is reminded to drive with caution when traveling on the campus.

The hospital construction project is scheduled to be complete in late spring of 2015. For more information on the project and an updated campus map, visit the “Building for Your Health” section of the hospital’s website at genesishcs.org.
