Genesis Cancer Services Receives $50,000 Grant from Avon
Zanesville, OH (March 11, 2013) – Genesis Cancer Services received a $50,000 grant from Avon Inc. to enable uninsured and under-insured women in our community receive potentially life-saving mobile mammography screenings.
The donation was made possible through the Avon Foundation’s Mammography Challenge during which Avon employees were encouraged to get annual mammograms. The Zanesville Avon Distribution Center won second place in the nation with 67.9 percent of its eligible associates getting mammograms. In recognition of this great accomplishment, the Avon Foundation presented Genesis with a grant of $50,000.
“We are grateful to Avon for this generous grant,” said Sharon Parker, RN, BSN, MSA, director of Genesis Cancer Services. “The dedication and passion of the employees at the Zanesville Avon Distribution Center is truly amazing. Not only did they encourage each other to take care of their breast health, but their efforts will assist women in our community get mammograms.
“We appreciate Avon choosing Genesis as its partner in health,” added Parker. “The grant will help women in our community receive breast cancer screenings when they might not otherwise be able to do so.”
