Genesis Holds Subcontractor & Vendor Opportunity Fair

Zanesville, OH (Nov. 30, 2012) – Genesis HealthCare System is holding an Opportunity Fair for local subcontractors and vendors to learn about the new Genesis medical center construction project. The event will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Genesis HealthPlex Conference Center, 2800 Maple Ave., Zanesville.

The Project Team of Navigant Consulting, SmithGroupJJR/Trinity Healthgroup/Brian Addis Architects and Turner Construction Company will present information on several aspects of the project, including project scope, construction timeframe, bid package opportunities and bid qualification requirements.

“This is the community’s new medical center, and it’s important to Genesis that members of our community have an opportunity to be involved in the construction,” said Al Burns, chief development officer at Genesis. “We’re pleased to offer this event as one way to share information.”

The purchasing plan for the project was released in July, and it describes the general approach for soliciting and awarding bids. It is broken into several categories, each with a description of how local subcontractors will be involved.

“The fair is a chance for local subcontractors and vendors to hear about the specific bid packages and ask questions of the Project Team,” said Burns. “We know there are very skilled contractors in our region that can provide many of the services, and we want to ensure they have an opportunity to be considered.”

The design process will be complete in late 2012, and construction will begin in late spring 2013. The new center is scheduled to open in 2015. Initial estimates indicate the new medical center will cost approximately $125 million. Genesis is also choosing to make additional renovations to Bethesda, including upgrades to the mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Additional unique design features are also being incorporated to enhance the patient experience and create a highly efficient facility for staff.

Registration for the Opportunity Fair is encouraged; see the information to the right. Subcontractors and vendors who are not able to attend the fair can begin the prequalification process from "Contractor Prequalification" to the right on this site.
