Genesis Palliative Care Physician Receives Alumni Award
Zanesville, OH (Dec. 2, 2015) – Erin Remster, DO, medical director, Genesis Palliative Care recently received an alumni award from Western Michigan University. Dr. Remster joined Genesis HealthCare System in 2012 to recreate the palliative care program. The team of doctors, nurse practitioners and specially trained caregivers at Genesis Palliative Care help patients and families deal with the symptoms and stress of a serious illness both in the hospital and in the community.
Erin Remster, DO, medical director, Genesis Palliative Care, received the Outstanding Alumni Academy award from Western Michigan University for her contributions to the field of holistic health, advancement of individualized palliative care and excellence in research and teaching.
Dr. Remster completed the Holistic Health graduate certificate in 2003 from the Integrative Holistic Health and Wellness department at Western Michigan University. The alumni award recognizes Dr. Remster’s “outstanding contributions to holistic health, the advancement of individualized palliative care and excellence in research and teaching.”
Dr. Remster is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She received her medical degree from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio, and completed an internal medicine residency at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee followed by fellowship training at Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio. She has received numerous awards for helping patients including the Genesis Physicians Pride award for Professionalism in 2013, the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Medical Teaching Award in 2011, and the ETSU Caduceus Club Internal Medicine Resident of the Year in 2009. She continues to work in the community to improve care for all patients with serious illnesses.
