Coal Miners Appreciation Day Offers Free Screenings
Zanesville, Ohio (Aug. 17, 2015) – Coal Miners Appreciation Day will be Friday, Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. to noon at Ohio University Zanesville/Zane State College. There will be free screenings, lunch and educational speakers. The college is located at 1425 Newark Road, Zanesville, and the doors open at 8:30 a.m.
The event is for past and present coal miners, their families and friends. The U.S. Department of Labor and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) will be there to provide coal miners with free tests to detect coal workers’ pneumoconiosis, or black lung. Those tested may be eligible for black lung benefits.
