Genesis-Bethesda Fitness Trail to Temporarily Close
On Sunday, March, 2, 2014, the fitness trail on the campus of Bethesda Hospital will temporarily close due to the hospital’s construction project. The trail is scheduled to reopen near the end of June and will be a permanent part of the new, redesigned campus.
“We recognize the fitness trail is a popular walking destination for the community; however, our primary concern is with the safety and well-being of those visiting our campus. We feel it is in the best interest of the community to close the trail while work in that area is completed,” stated Alan Burns, Chief Development Officer.
In addition to the closing of the fitness trail, visitors to the campus will experience a change in traffic flow near the main entrance of the campus and a change in parking availability. A free valet service will be in place at the hospital’s main entrance for the convenience of patients and visitors.
The hospital is entering a phase of construction that includes the redesign of all parking lots around the hospital by year’s end. Visitors are reminded to be alert to changes in traffic flow and increased construction traffic on the site. Flaggers and/or directional signage will be in place to direct visitors to their destinations.
“This year, the community will see a lot of work around the campus. With each phase of work, we consider the impact it will have on our patients and visitors. We attempt to minimize inconvenience and confusion as much as possible, with the first priority being safety,” continued Burns.
The hospital construction project is scheduled to be complete in late spring of 2015.
