Genesis Hospice Receives Donation for "We Honor Veterans" Campaign
Zanesville, OH (Sept. 15, 2014) – Genesis Hospice Care recently received a donation from the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 1058 for the “We Honor Veterans” campaign. The campaign centers on the unique needs of veterans. Genesis Hospice is the only health care provider in the area offering this specialized care.
“We’re pleased the VFW provided a $500 donation to help honor veterans who have served our country,” said Rebecca Jenei, R.N., B.S.N, director of Genesis Hospice Care. One out of every four dying Americans is a veteran. The program recognizes the unique needs of America’s veterans and their families and helps guide them through their life stories to a more peaceful ending.
Genesis Hospice is a Level II provider. In order to receive this distinction, Genesis Hospice had to demonstrate commitment and proficiency in providing quality care and services to veterans and their families. “This is a needed service in the community,” said Cal Pritchard, VFW commander. “There weren’t any programs like this available in our area to honor veterans. We’re fortunate that Genesis Hospice is able to provide this specialized care for veterans in our community,” Pritchard said.
The “We Honor Veterans” campaign is conducted by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization in conjunction with the Department of Veteran Affairs. If you’d like more information about the “We Honor Veterans” initiative, go to genesishcs.org, or call (740) 454-5364.
