Genesis Spirit of Women to Host A Passport to the Nervous System
Zanesville, OH (April 7, 2014) - While forgetting where you left your keys is often chalked up to “getting old,” Genesis knows that these and other symptoms can sometimes point to a more serious issue: a neurological disease. In an effort to educate the Zanesville community on how to achieve better brain health, Genesis Spirit of Women is hosting A Passport to the Nervous System on Thursday, May 8.
“Neurological disorders, including but certainly not limited to Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, affect over one billion people worldwide—millions of whom live right here in the U.S.,” explains Holly Voltz Marketing/Media Relations Manager. “A Passport to Your Nervous System not only explains how the brain and nervous system, work but also what we can do to lower our risk for these life-changing diseases.”
A 2007 report from the World Health Organization indicates that one out of seven people around the world are affected by a neurological disease. Common neurological disorders, such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, currently affect over six million Americans. While there is no definitive way to completely avoid developing a neurological disease, the program helps to break down the inner workings of the brain and nervous system and provides travel-themed tips on how to lower one’s risk.
A Passport to Your Nervous System is a national program developed by Spirit of Women and locally presented by Genesis HealthCare System.
