Free Exercise and Nutrition Program for Children Starts Monday, Oct. 27
Genesis Nutrition Education is offering a free program for children and parents to help kids and families make healthy lifestyle choices. Shaping Futures is a hands-on program designed for children ages 5 to 11 years old.
“We’ve revamped Shaping Futures to focus on realistic ways to implement a healthy diet and exercise into your family’s life,” said Heather Shuster, manager, Genesis Population Health & Wellness. “The kids will enjoy a social time, interactive learning activities and the chance to win prizes,” Shuster said. During sessions, children participate in fun games and exercise.
Classes are taught by certified fitness professionals and registered dieticians. During the sessions, there’ll be lessons on healthy nutrition for busy lifestyles, stress and emotional eating, food label education, portion control techniques, budgets, kid-friendly foods and more.
The first four-week session starts Monday, Oct. 27. The sessions are Mondays and Thursdays at the Muskingum Recreation Center, in Zanesville, from 6 to 7 p.m. There isn’t any cost to attend, but children need to be accompanied by an adult, and registration is required.
