Free Coal Miners Health Fair Nov. 12

Zanesville, OH (Oct. 29, 2014) – The Genesis Black Lung & Respiratory Health Clinic is offering a free Coal Miners Health Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 12. The health fair is open to active or retired coal miners, or anyone who’s ever been exposed to coal dust through employment.

The Coal Miners Health Fair provides an opportunity for people in the community to obtain free screenings and possibly detect health problems that might otherwise go unnoticed. The screenings include respiratory, blood sugar, blood pressure/stroke awareness, DermaView skin screenings, body fat analysis, grip strength testing and more. A nurse practitioner will be available to review screening results, and representatives from the Department of Labor will also take applications for black lung benefits and answer questions.

The Coal Miners Health Fair is from 9 a.m. to noon at the Muskingum County Center for Seniors, 201 Sunrise Center Drive, Zanesville. Registration is not required. For more information, call the Genesis Black Lung & Respiratory Health Clinic at (740) 454-4328.
