Stroke/Carotid Artery - This screening visualizes the buildup of fatty plaque in the carotid arteries that can lead to stroke. Risk factors include high blood pressure, smoking, high cholesterol, diabetes, obesity, physical inactivity, family history, and transient ischemic attack (TIA's). Symptoms include sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the face, arms or legs, sudden loss of vision or slurred speach, sudden dizziness, severe headaches, and TIA's (mini stroke).
Atrial Fibrillation (Heart Rhythm) - An easy test using EKG electrodes to identify the presence or absence of an irregular heartbeat. Risk factors include high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart disease, smoking, excess weight, caffeine, alcohol abuse, sleep apnea, and family history. Symptoms include heart sensations sometimes called palpitations, which may include irregular thumping or pounding heartbeats, a feeling the heart is racing, chest discomfort or pain, fainting or light-headedness, fatigue, shortness of breath or weakness.
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm - This screening visualizes the existence of an auerysm in the abodminal aorta that can rupture and be fatal. Risk factors include family history, smoking, high blood pressure, and being a white male. The vast majority of people are without symptoms.
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) - This screening checks for blockage in the arteries of the legs. Risk factors include diabetes, high blood pressure, and history of coronary artery disease. Symptoms can include numbness or tingling in the legs, loss of hair on toes or feet, and cramping in the legs that is relieved with rest.
