Rock Steady Boxing
Genesis Rehabilitation Services is one of the first in the state to offer Rock Steady Boxing. Rock Steady Boxing is a non-contact fitness program designed to improve Parkinson’s patients’ movements. Parkinson’s disease is characterized by tremors, slow movements, rigidity, unstable posture and freezing movements.
We offer weekly exercise classes to help those in our community fighting Parkinson’s disease. Genesis physical therapists received advanced training to offer Rock Steady Boxing. The exercises include high intensity, quick punches designed to improve the freezing movements that people with Parkinson’s often have.
Since starting the exercise classes, Tom Bryan has been able to slow the disease progress, improve his balance, multi-tasking abilities and strength. Tom looks forward to the weekly exercise classes because the sessions are fun. You can read Tom's story.
Tom also participates in a weekly aquatic exercise class. The exercise class is available at no cost and is designed to improve movement for those in our community dealing with Parkinson’s.
