Interventional Cardiology

Non-surgical interventional treatments such as angioplasty are used to open narrowed coronary arteries to improve blood flow to the heart. These procedures can be done during a diagnostic cardiac catheterization when a blockage is identified or may be scheduled after a catheterization has confirmed coronary artery disease.

Our board-certified interventional cardiologists have years of experience and extensive training in performing interventional procedures, and our quality outcomes for interventional cardiology far exceed national averages.

During an angioplasty a narrowed section of the coronary artery is dilated with a balloon catheter, and stents are usually inserted to keep the artery open. Angioplasty and related techniques are known as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). These procedures are less invasive than bypass surgery and require a shorter recovery time. Our heart care experts can help you determine if angioplasty or bypass surgery is the best option for you.
