Dr. Freddie Fu reviews medical content for Healthwise,

In January of 1998, he was named David Silver Professor and Chairman of the
Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of

Medicine and the Head Team Physician for the Pittsburgh Athletic
Department.
Dr. Fu's major research interest lies in clinical
outcome as well as biology and biomechanics of the knee and shoulder in
sports-related injuries. He has served as Principal Investigator or
Co-Investigator on dozens of orthopedic research projects, many of them
studying the treatment of ACL injuries. Dr. Fu is a member of the prestigious
Herodicus Society and in 2008 will serve as President of the American
Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. He has received numerous national and
international awards for his work and is a well-known speaker on orthopedic
topics.
Dr. Fu is the editor of 26 major orthopedic textbooks and
the author of more than 80 book chapters on the management of sports injuries,
and he has authored or coauthored more than 270 peer-reviewed articles. He
serves on the editorial boards of many orthopaedic journals including
American Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, and Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.
