Coal Miners Health Fair on
Oct. 5, 2005
A Coal Miners Health Fair will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Fink’s Used Car Showroom, 2 Merriam St., South Zanesville. Sponsored by the Genesis Respiratory Health Clinic, the event is geared toward coal miners or others who have been exposed to coal dust through employment, but it is open to anyone who has respiratory problems.
Free respiratory and blood sugar screenings will be available in addition to pulse oximetry and blood pressure readings. You can also pick up information on respiratory diseases, such as sleep disorders, colorectal cancer screenings, and home oxygen equipment and supplies. Linda Swallie, CRNP, MSN, a nurse practitioner with Dr. E. Colby, will be available to review some of the test results. Representatives from the Ohio Department of Labor will also be at the event to answer questions about black lung benefits. Free flu shots will be offered to coal miners if a supply is available.
Registration is not necessary. For more information about the event, call (740) 454-4063, or toll free, 1-800-322-4762, ext. 4063. To learn more about the Genesis Respiratory Health Clinic, check out “Our Services” on our web site.
