Community Health Needs Assessment

Community Health Needs Assessment

Learn about the health needs Genesis is working to address in the community by reviewing our 2013 Community Health Needs Assessments.

Genesis-Good Samaritan

In addition to being here when you're sick or injured, Genesis is also here to help you live a healthy, fulfilling life, and that's a big focus of our community health needs assessment. Our community health needs assessment identifies the biggest health needs in our region and helps us set our priorities.

It takes a united community to meet the health care needs of our family, friends and neighbors, and we partnered with local organizations to complete assessment. We also reached out to the community-at-large to get feedback. Group discussions were held, and public surveys were done. Data was collected from many sources, looking at what health conditions people in our community are treated for the most and what resources are available to help prevent and treat these conditions.

The health issues that rose to the top of the needs list included:

  • cardiac disease
  • cancer
  • the ability to access doctors
  • prescription opiate abuse
  • obesity

With this information in hand, we began working closely with other local organizations to focus on meeting these needs together. Read our Implementation Strategy for information on how we are addressing these needs.
