When you or your loved one needs health care, Genesis HealthCare System is here for you, regardless of your ability to pay. As a not-for-profit hospital, Genesis provides care to all members of the community, regardless of their ability to pay. Our mission is to provide compassionate, quality health care to all members of our community with a commitment to provide a broad range of services to meet the community's needs, even when some may not be profitable.
Each year, Genesis provides millions of dollars in free care for people who do not have the money to pay for health care, and that’s only a small part of the cost we absorb to ensure those who cannot afford health care receive it. We also absorb millions of dollars in unpaid Medicare and Medicaid costs, which reflects the difference between our cost to provide care and the amount the government pays for providing the care.
Every penny Genesis makes above and beyond our expenses is put back into the hospital to add new technology, update our facilities and improve the services we provide for the community.
In 2006, Genesis joined with the local health department to support and endorse the development of the Muskingum Valley Health Centers (MVHC), a Federally Qualified Health enter. MVHC offers preventative and primary medical care to more than 14,000 area residents who often had trouble receiving these services in the past because of their financial status. The addition of MVHC has greatly enhanced access to health care for our community.
